Could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Debbie Hinds, and I’m a resident of Barbados.
Could you tell us about your business? How did you get started?
My business, Exxclusive Trends, is a personalized shopping service for individuals and families.
We’re all aware of the growth worldwide in personalized service businesses, as wealth increases and people begin to place higher value and priorities on their time. In my business, I noticed that there are many individuals who may not like to go shopping for their clothing, or may feel they aren’t able to put together a cohesive wardrobe for a business or school season, or a nice outfit for a special occasion. That’s where I step in, allowing them to delegate the whole process to me.
Listening carefully to the needs of the customer, I provide a variety of ideas and styles based on my experience, and then once decisions are taken, I then procure and deliver their clothing, accessories, etc. in a timely manner.
Is your market local, or do you service customers virtually as well?
The service started out with family and friends, but now I’m expanding to friends-of-friends through word-of-mouth referrals. I’m also beginning to service contacts coming through my social marketing channels.
If the business grows in the future, do you intend to hire staff to help, or do you prefer to stay small just providing the services yourself?
Right now, I prefer to remain a one-person business, as it’s a very personalized service and I enjoy and prefer working with each customer one-on-one.
Could you tell us how you use MyMalls in your business?
I came to know about MyMalls through a local DHL courier, and began using the service to procure my products in the United States, and deliver them to my customers quickly.
What benefits do you as a business perceive in using MyMalls?
MyMalls allows me to access the whole US market for product sourcing, and through its speed and reliability allows me to develop a reputation in my local market for the same. Also, I especially like that I can track my packages, that the service is reliable and I even see who signed for the packages.
How do your customers benefit from your use of MyMalls?
They now have access to a much broader variety of products, brands, styles, sizes, etc. than would otherwise be available in our local or regional markets.
In which areas could MyMalls improve to even better help you, your business and your customers?
I would love for MyMalls to find ways to broaden the scope of the consolidation feature, as that is the best way for me to lower my overall shipping costs.
